Get to know Karen

Karen Walton is a Registered Psychologist providing counselling psychology and neuropsychological services within an ethically grounded, evidence-based framework. Her work is characterised by a thoughtful, collaborative approach that recognises psychological care as a relational and contextual process rather than a standardised intervention. She works with adolescents and adults, tailoring assessment and therapy to the individual’s psychological needs, life circumstances, and capacity for change.
Expertise Approach

Karen has specialised training in the treatment of substance use disorders and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and incorporates these frameworks flexibly within a broader, integrative therapeutic approach. She is attentive to emotional regulation, behavioural patterns, and underlying psychological processes, supporting clients to develop insight alongside practical skills for managing distress and complexity. Her work is guided by current psychological research while remaining responsive to each client’s unique strengths, vulnerabilities, and developmental history.

Clinical Style

She works closely within a multidisciplinary team, contributing psychological assessment and therapeutic depth to integrated formulations and treatment planning. Her clinical style is respectful, non-judgemental, and psychologically attuned, with a strong emphasis on creating a safe therapeutic space in which clients feel understood, actively engaged, and supported in meaningful, sustainable change.
