Get to know Simone

Simone Jordaan is an Occupational Therapist and mental health professional with extensive experience across clinical practice, mental health rehabilitation, programme development, and healthcare leadership. Her work sits at the intersection of psychological health and everyday functioning, with a particular focus on how emotional and psychiatric difficulties impact identity, work capacity, and sustainable engagement with life.
Primary focus and patient approach

Simone is based within Mondia Health and provides on-site occupational therapy services at Winelands Wellness as part of the collaboration between the two organisations. In this role, she conducts comprehensive functional assessments, including Functional Capacity Evaluations, and supports return-to-work and rehabilitation planning for individuals navigating psychological, emotional, and functional challenges. Her approach emphasises practical integration — translating therapeutic insight into realistic, meaningful change within daily life and work environments.

Managerial experience

Prior to relocating to the Winelands, Simone served in senior leadership roles at Mondia Health, including Hospital Manager and Therapy Programme Manager. In these positions, she oversaw multidisciplinary clinical teams, therapeutic programme development, and operational systems within specialised mental health and addiction services. This background informs a systems-aware, ethically grounded approach to her current clinical work, shaped by an understanding of both individual recovery processes and the organisational structures that support them.

Private practice background

Earlier in her career, Simone owned and operated a private practice for nine years, providing mental health and paediatric occupational therapy, sensory integration services, vocational rehabilitation, and medico-legal assessments. She has also worked within the public health sector as a senior therapist, contributing to her broad understanding of mental health care across contexts and levels of care.

Simone’s clinical approach is holistic and evidence-based, integrating occupational therapy frameworks with psychological and behavioural models to support functional recovery, resilience, and long-term wellbeing. She works with individuals, adolescents, and workplace teams, and has a particular interest in rehabilitation-oriented care that supports sustained functioning rather than short-term symptom management.

Academic qualifications

She holds degrees from the University of Pretoria and Stellenbosch University, as well as Management and Executive Coaching certification from the University of Cape Town. Her professional development includes extensive training in mental health, addiction, personality theory, sensory integration, coaching, and functional evaluation.

Approach

Simone’s work is characterised by thoughtful leadership, clinical depth, and a strong commitment to ethical, person-centred care. She brings a steady, integrative perspective to multidisciplinary work, supporting individuals and systems to move toward healthier, more resilient ways of functioning.
